OVERVIEW
Established in 1998, Union Biometrica is the pioneer in the development,
manufacture, distribution and service of high throughput systems for the
screening of "large" particles such as beads used in combinatorial chemistry
libraries and small seeds, and for small multicellular organisms including
C. elegans, Drosophila, and D. rerio. Union Biometrica's proprietary COPAS
systems are helping to accelerate research in application areas such as
genetic and compound screening, functional genomics, target identification / validation,
and in vivo toxicology HTS. Using one of our various application specific
COPASTM systems, researchers can analyze,
sort, and dispense objects with a higher precision
and speed than any other commercially available technique, thereby dramatically
reducing the time required for experiments and even enabling new, previously
unfeasible experiments to be performed.
With continuous research and development in both instrumentation and customized
assays, Union Biometrica is helping our customers to overcome bottlenecks in
genetics research as well as the target validation, high-throughput/high
content screening, and ADMET screening aspects of drug discovery. By working
with both biologists and combinatorial chemists, our highly qualified group
of scientists provides customers a unique perspective of the relationship
between these two fields particularly in relation to drug discovery. One
example of this interdisciplinary cooperation is to use COPAS for screening a
compound library to identify and isolate compounds of interest. Researchers
then test these compounds (drug candidates) using small
animal models in combination with COPAS screening to determine their
absorption, distribution, metabolism, elimination, and toxicology properties
prior to conducting costly clinical trials.
Union Biometrica's current product line features COPASTM
high performance flow systems including the BIOSORT, SELECT, PLUS, and XL models, as well
as our COPAS Data Acquisition and Analysis Software. Systems are available in a variety
of size-optimized platforms and are capable of sorting objects by length, optical density, and
multiple channels of fluorescence. We also offer a specially formulated line of reagents and
control particles. Union Biometrica also offers a wide range of contract biological services, assay
development, genetic and compound screens, and transgenic services.
Union Biometrica Inc. is a Delaware corporation. Located in Holliston, Massachusetts, our headquarters are in the heart of one of the most world-renowned educational and high technology districts, with some of the most prestigious academic facilities and biotechnology firms just a few miles away. Union Biometrica GmbH, a wholly owned subsidiary of Union Biometrica Inc., provides sales, service and applications support for our European customers. We maintain a fully equipped applications laboratory and customer support offices in Geel, Belgium. In other countries including Asia-Pacific we do business via a world-wide network of local distributors.
